Each company has its very own definition and expectations for the EM position.

This definition can evolve over time, even within the same company, depending on the team's maturity and the company's growth stage.

This is precisely what makes this role so difficult to define. There is no one size fits all.

There is no universal definition for the role of the EM, but we find some common pillars in every single engineering organization:

Most of the EMs are working for product companies, by consequence, there is often a fourth pillar: the Product 🎁

The balance between each pillar and their own individual value is very different from an organization to another.
